A long fireworks show on the ICW.

Day 3 | Final Voyage of M/Y Zinful

Our third day moving Zinful was a long, slow day. We cruised under a plethora of ICW bridges โ€“ bridge after bridge, only some of which we could fit under while the bridges were closed. For the closed bridges that we couldnโ€™t fit under, we had to time our arrival with the scheduled bridge opening times. The times were usually every thirty minutes on the hour and half hour or on the quarter hour and three quarter hour. It didnโ€™t take us long to find our rhythm and we were able to time our arrival with just a few minutes to spare for most of the ICW bridge openings.

After a 45.5 nm day, we ended at Palm Beach at a crowded and largely unprotected anchorage, but there werenโ€™t a lot of great options in this area. It wasnโ€™t long after we dropped anchor that we realized it hadnโ€™t held, so we pulled it back up to reset it. Most unfortunately, one of the flukes had bent in a 90ยฐ angle โ€“ meaning we essentially had only half an anchor. With the strong current in that area and the close proximity of other anchored boats, it was a long, restless night.

After dark, we enjoyed a lengthy and spectacular fireworks show over the water!
