Westerbeke 7.6kW BTD 60 hertz diesel generator
In between our Yanmar engines on our aft deck is our diesel generator, capable of producing up to 7,600 watts of power! I can’t imagine using that much AC power, coming from a van that’s limited to 2,400 watts.
What does our generator power?
Tom has extensively re-wired the systems on our boat to run primarily off the 4800W inverter. With the new wiring in place, the only appliances we won’t be able to run via the inverter are our two marine air conditioners. When we want to run either or both of the A/C’s, we’ll go ahead and crank up ol’ Genny.

Diesel Generator maintenance
ImpellEr
This diesel generator uses the impeller 34440, the impeller kit includes a new gasket.
The impeller should be replaced every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
Zinc
Our genny’s pencil zinc anode is PN 0111885.
The zinc anode should be inspected for degradation monthly, and replaced as needed (when there is little zinc remaining).
Fuel Filter
The fuel filter is PN 030200, and the fuel filter kit includes two o-rings which should also be changed at the same time as the filter.
The diesel fuel filter should be changed every 250 hours.
